Blue and Gray Apron with Tie Dye

$140.00

Each apron is unique. They are all made in the same manner as my quilts, composed improvisationally without patterns. I start by making groupings of colors and textures of fabrics. While the quilts are a deeper dive into color and form the smaller scale of the aprons allow a more spontaneous and playful gesture. I think the kitchen is an awesome place for these textile color studies to get to live, while also keeping your clothes clean while you bake!

Like my quills, all of my aprons are made with 2nd hand fabrics sourced from the fashion and interior design industries as well as vintage shops and estate sales. This way I get fabrics unavailable to anyone else and give some rad old fabrics a new life for you to love! The fabrics may carry a visual history of their previous life (wear marks in a pair of old jeans or the red wine stain of a linen tablecloth). These choices are intentional, showing the character of the journey of the fabric.

FIT AND CARE

  • The body of the apron measures 30” tall x 25” across. The neck cord is 20” and the waist ties are 32” each. Tie in front or in back, whatever is most comfortable for your body. Trim off excess cord if desired. Around my belly is 44” and I tie in back with a bow. There is plenty of length left over. Friends with a greater circumference can tie in a square knot.

  • The back of each apron is made with preshrunk cotton canvas and twisted cotton cording.  Machine washable on cold and gentle.  Do not dryclean.
